Strategic Goals for 2024-2025

As we look to the 2024-2025 school year, our district is launching several strategic initiatives designed to strengthen student support and enrich the educational experience for all.

Grounded in our priorities of Academic Engagement, Innovation, School Culture, and Resource Management, some of these key initiatives are outlined below.

Academic Engagement

  • Educational Advances
Training for elementary and middle school staff in the BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) framework will enhance student well-being and academic success, with high school implementation planned for 2025-2026.

  • ASB Exploratory Center
The ASB building will transform into the ASB Exploratory Center, providing electives aligned with Career and Technical Education (CTE) to offer hands-on learning and career readiness.

  • Expanded Pre-K
Supported by additional Best in Class Grant funding, the Future Coyotes Pre-K program will expand to four classrooms, creating more early learning opportunities for our youngest learners.

  • Boundary Setting Process – Phase 2
The school boundary process will continue, with elementary attendance boundaries for the district set to be finalized by the end of the 2024-2025 school year and implemented in Fall 2026. Community and administrative input will ensure equitable attendance zones as we grow.

Innovation

  • Williston Basin CTE Center and Del Easton Alternative School
The opening of the Williston Basin CTE Center and relocation of Del Easton Alternative School to the high school campus expands resources and career pathways for WHS students and surrounding schools.

  • Special Education Self-Service Model
Transitioning to a self-service model for special education services will support smoother operations and fiscal responsibility by reducing dependency on contracted services.

School Culture

  • Focused Learning Environments
Williston Middle School Central Campus will introduce a "no cell phone policy" with secure lockers, while the high school will increase restrictions on cell phone use to reduce distractions and foster engagement.

  • Public Engagement Enhancements
Community engagement will expand through additional school board and administrative public meetings, diverse feedback opportunities, and community surveys. A newly established Leadership Council, composed of representatives from parents, teachers, and administrators, will play a vital role in advising on key district decisions. Continuous website enhancements, a streamlined communication matrix, and regular "Fast Facts" videos from the superintendent will further support accessible, transparent, and timely communication across our school community.

Resource Management

  • New Elementary School
The groundbreaking for the new elementary school is planned for late September/early October, with an anticipated opening in August 2026, addressing community growth and expanding learning spaces for young students.

  • Enhanced Recruitment and Retention
Human Resources will introduce a revamped pay scale for classified staff, enhanced dental benefits, and competitive compensation for long-term substitutes, aligning with industry standards and supporting our goal of attracting and retaining talented professionals.

  • Infrastructure Updates & Expanded Transportation
Investments will focus on updating and repairing existing infrastructure to provide safe, modern learning environments across the district. Additionally, expanded transportation services will improve accessibility and support the growing needs of our students and families.

Strategic Plan Update

As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, our district will update its Strategic Plan during the 2024-2025 school year. The newly formed Leadership Council—composed of parents, teachers, and administrators—will lead the development this plan, ensuring it reflects our evolving priorities in Academic Engagement, Innovation, School Culture, and Resource Management. This collaborative approach means our district’s path forward is shaped directly by those we serve, fostering a shared and inclusive vision for success.

As we look to the future, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our community. Your support enables us to inspire and prepare students for the next stages of education, work, and life. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community—we look forward to all we will achieve together!
