WBSD7 Policies on Title IX & Section 504
Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment
In accordance with Title IX and its implementing regulations, 34 C.F.R. Part 106.8, Williston Basin School District #7 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, in any district education program or activity. Additionally, the District is committed to providing a work and student environment that is free of sexual harassment, and shall not tolerate sexual harassment by any employee, student, parent, or third party. The District shall provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of all sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation grievances by and against staff, students, parents, and third parties, as described in board policy. Inquiries about the application of Title IX and its regulations may be referred to the district’s Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.
Williston Basin Public School District #7 (WBSD7) is committed to a positive learning, working and living environment. WBSD7 will not tolerate acts of sexual harassment or related retaliation against or by any employee or student. In working to achieve this intent, WBSD7 commits to: (1) taking action to stop sexual harassment; (2) taking action to remedy its effects by providing advocacy, support and appropriate referral services for complainants; (3) taking action to prevent recurrence; (4) educating individuals and promoting discussions on interpersonal abuse and violence; and (5) conducting impartial investigation of all reports/notices of sexual harassment through fair, equitable and prompt procedures. Investigations will be independent of and separate from law enforcement investigations of criminal activity.
This policy is required by federal law and implementation of this policy is guided by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights.
WBSD7 encourages all members of the campus community to seek support for and report any sexual harassment directly to the Title IX Coordinator who oversees the WBSD7’s Title IX compliance.
