Frontline Education Cybersecurity Incident May Affect Current and Former Williston School District Employees

October 9, 2026

Late this afternoon, Williston Basin School District #7 (WBSD7) received confirmation from Frontline Education that District files were affected by a cybersecurity incident involving Frontline's systems.

Frontline Education provides human resources software used by school districts across the country for functions such as recruitment, hiring, and employee management. WBSD7 currently uses Frontline for its hiring processes and used the system for payroll in previous years. The former Williston Public School District #1 also utilized Frontline prior to the district reorganization.

The affected files contained personal information belonging to current and former employees of WBSD7, as well as individuals who were employed by the former Williston Public School District #1. The information involved varies by individual and may include Social Security numbers, dates of birth, mailing addresses, and email addresses.

Frontline will send correspondence directly to affected individuals with details about the personal information involved and available protection services. Affected adults are being offered 24 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring and fraud assistance through Frontline's designated service provider.

Because the District does not yet know when affected individuals will receive their formal notifications from Frontline, WBSD7 is sharing this information promptly so current and former employees are aware of the situation and can take appropriate precautions.

Individuals do not need to wait for their formal notification to take steps to protect their personal information. One option is to place a free credit freeze with each of the three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

The District has established a dedicated webpage with information about the incident, frequently asked questions provided by Frontline Education, protective measures, step-by-step credit freeze instructions, and additional resources.

Individuals with questions about the incident, individual notifications, or available protection services may contact Frontline's designated TransUnion Call Center at 1-833-516-8792, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.

WBSD7 will continue to share updates as additional verified information becomes available.
