Future Coyotes Pre-K Program
2025-2026 School Year

The application was open from March 17 to March 21, 2025.

The application is now closed as the program has reached capacity and a substantial waiting list has been established.

If you completed an application for the 2025-2026 school year, an email was sent to the email address provided in the application on Tuesday, March 25. This email included two questions to help processing applications. Please provide your responses on or before March 31, 2025. This does not indicate acceptance into the program. Final notifications regarding student acceptance into the program or placement on the waiting list will be sent to families after April 7, 2025.

Program Overview

WBSD#7 is dedicated to offering free education to our community.

Our Future Coyotes Pre-K Center aims to extend education to low-income families because we believe every child deserves access to quality education.

The program is intended to provide one year of Pre-K to children who will transition into kindergarten the following school year. It is not intended for children to attend for two years.

Age: Children must turn 4 years old by August 1 of the upcoming school year to be eligible. This includes children who are 5 years old and not planning to enter kindergarten in the upcoming school year.

School Day Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00AM - 2:00PM

Nutrition: Two snacks are provided daily. Lunch is offered, with free/reduced-price meals available upon completing the application & being determined eligible.

Class Size: 18 students per room with one teacher and one paraprofessional

Recess: Indoor and outdoor playground equipment for gross motor development

Academics

Future Coyotes PreK program focuses on academic development through a combination of state-of-the art assessment tools, innovative teaching methodologies, and evidence-based practices, including:

  • Utilization of the First Gold Assessment Tool provided by the State of North Dakota

  • Teaching Strategies

  • Integration of Conscious Discipline

  • Seeds of Learning

  • Implementation of evidence-based practices in early learning literacy

Enrollment/Target Population

In order to qualify for the ND Best in Class grant, 50% of the students enrolled must have a disability or be at 60% State Median Income or less. Therefore, our enrollment selection is conducted in three stages.

  1. The first stage includes those with disabilities and/or low income

  2. Second stage will include WBSD7 employees

  3. Third stage will include the general public

Once all 72 placements are filled, the remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist.

Funding

There is no cost to participate in the Future Coyotes PreK Program.

Future Coyotes PreK is funded by two state grants and WBSD#7.
