Counseling
The Counseling department at Rickard Elementary School is here to help you with a multitude of things. We are available to assist with:
Social and emotional development
Academic achievement
Transcript management
Or anything else you want to talk about!
Our mission to help all Rickard students adjust to stress and challenges in elementary school. We understand whether you are breezing through school academically, someone who has just moved to Williston and doesn't know many people yet, or someone who is not succeeding in the classroom, there are always times you might want someone to talk to.
About the Counselor
This is Tacy Bressler's fourth year at Rickard Elementary School, her 15th as a school counselor. She worked with high school students for eight years and elementary students for seven years. She is a graduate of South Dakota State University and is originally from South Dakota.
"I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession, and so after several years in the workforce, with three small children, I decided to go back to school and get my Master's degree. I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else. Seeing kids become more confident in themselves and realizing their potential is what keeps me going! I love it when the 'light' comes on, and their faces light up with joy!

"I do whatever is needed during the school day. From working with kids, to teaching lessons, to small groups! I enjoy helping out in the lunch room, and interacting with the kids. I have started Mrs.'s B's Shoe Tying University, on Friday afternoons for those kids who can't tie their shoes yet! My motto is, "Be nice, because nice matters!'"
Fun Fact: I love to hunt and am planning a trip to shoot a bear with my bow, in the near future!
