Physical Education (P.E.)

Required
Description: Physical Education integrates health and skill-related fitness, and health education concepts into a variety of activities and classroom experiences. Curriculum includes: flag football, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, nitro ball, floor hockey, broomball, cup stacking, golf, disk sports, handball, lacrosse, badminton, soccer/speedball/ultimate Frisbee and FITT principles.
Intro to Weight Lifting

Grades: 9-12
Description: This course is an introductory strength and conditioning class designed for students to learn the basic components of strength training. Fundamental techniques will be taught, reinforced, and stressed for each lift. An individualized program will be followed for each student and progress will be documented. Strength training techniques, nutrition, and testing will be used for optimal training outcomes. Pre/Post Test assessments and charts documenting individual progress will be used to evaluate students’ progress.
Intro to Weight Training + Weights meets Physical Education requirement
Weight Lifting

Grades: 9-12
Prerequisites: (Intro to Weight Lifting or Summer Strength and Conditioning)
Description: This course is a strength and conditioning class designed for students to build upon specific lifts. Advanced techniques will be taught, reinforced, and stressed for each lift. An individualized program will be followed for each student and progress will be documented. Strength training techniques, nutrition, video analysis, and testing will be used for optimal training outcomes. Speed and Agility will also be addressed. Pre/Post Test assessments will be used to document student progress.
Personal and Family Health

Grades: 9-12
Description: Gain knowledge in the area of nutrition, fitness, focusing on the components: strength, flexibility, agility, stress management, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory endurance. Gain knowledge to incorporate a healthier lifestyle through their lifecycle.
Athletics for Student Athletes

Grades: 10-12
Prerequisite: Varsity Athletics
Description: Strength-training with an emphasis of overall athletic development for varsity athletes. Focus will be on strength, speed, agility, and flexibility. Pre/post assessments will be used to measure student progress and achievement within the class.
Outdoor Recreation
½ credit
Grades: 10-12
Description: Outdoor activities that are unique to, but not limited to, the Western North Dakota region. Including camping, fishing, firearms safety, and other outdoor activities introduced.
